God Is Always Faithful
Psalm 119:89-90
God is faithful not just to our generation but to all generations. Faithfulness is the glue that holds our relationships, our culture and our world together. Without the faithfulness of God, there would be no stability in the universe. God’s faithfulness stands at the very center of His creation. Colossians 1:17, “He (Jesus) is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.” The faithfulness of God is the glue that holds this world together. Psalm 89:2 says that God’s faithfulness is established in the very heavens. God’s faithfulness resides in the core of His revelation. Faithfulness means keeping one’s word. As Joshua was dying he said, “Behold, this day I’m going the way of all the earth. And you know in all your hearts and in all your souls that not one thing has failed of all the good things which the Lord your God spoke concerning you. All have come to pass; not one word of them has failed” (Joshua 23:14). There is no subject more relevant than the faithfulness of God. I want to suggest five ways God’s faithfulness affects us.
God’s faithfulness prevents worry. Hebrews 10:23: “He who promised is faithful”. In other words, He’s going to keep His promise.
God’s faithfulness promises answers. Psalm 143:1 says, “Lord, hear my prayer, listen to my cry for mercy; in your faithfulness and righteousness come to my relief”.
God’s faithfulness protects us from evil. 2 Thessalonians 3:3, “The Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one”.
God’s faithfulness promotes praise. Psalm 89:1-2, “I will sing of the steadfast love of the Lord forever; with my mouth I will make known your faithfulness to all generations.”
God’s faithfulness provides encouragement. “The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, For His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:22-23)
“If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself”
(2 Timothy 2:13).
